| Significance: | This book is a compilation of mathematical problems and exercises published in a British almanac titled, "Ladies' Diary" beginning in 1704. The purpose of the problems was for entertainment just as Sudoku is today. The authors took it upon themselves to retrieve and preserve the problems and their solutions for history's sake. The problems themselves, while not extremely difficult, make for an interesting historical reference. |
